Information Technology and Route Planning

Information technology is a field in which ISL has specialised for a number of years. It focusses on the provision of bespoke integrated and customised systems to fulfil specific identified client needs which are not available elsewhere with the marketplace. Our experts can readily assess your needs and provide a system functionality specification.

One of our main fields is Route Planning, where it has the UK exclusive distribution rights to leading route planning software addressing both the High- and Low- density routing problems. These products are described in more detail on our Route Planning page.

Five years ago, in advance of the Traffic Management Act 2004, ISL developed a system for the coordination of streetworks between the different statutory undertakers who have a right to carry out streetworks. This, which is called Trafficworx™, has been operating successfully in Guernsey for more than four years and has reduced the number of excavations and lane closures by more than 20%.

Another IT-based feature we offer is a service to review environmental performance particularly, but not exclusively, in the field of waste management. This we call Performance Review™.

ISL has very extensive in-house capability in the field of GIS. This is, of course, used for our route planning work, but we also undertake a number of other projects in this field, including landfill site selection and evaluation, optimisation of depot location, prediction of garden waste arisings based on garden size, etc. etc. We also offer an in-house cad service.
